Jennifer Tilly's birth took place at Los Angeles, California on September 16, 1958. The birth circumstances were deplorable. Her mother was a schoolteacher and an unsuccessful actor while her father sold automobiles. Jennifer was the youngest of the four children in her family, frequently attended her mother to her theater performances and was awed by her. After Jennifer was just five years old, her parents divorced. Jennifer was a part of her early years at British Columbia after her mom was moved to the province along with four other children. Jennifer never was a professional, even though she was an artist when she was a child. Because of her experience in the public schools of Canada, Jennifer came under the sway of much bullying. Theater was her first passion, but it was a bit waning during the time she was in high school, and as a result she was a regular participant in shows in addition to help from her mother. The mother of her children encouraged the entire family to be passionate about arts and crafts. Her immediate response was to take the initiative.
